Sense of Place

Artist Statement

 

The playground is where kids enjoy their childhood, meet up with friends, and a place to learn how to share. A place where memories are made. Playground is a place of laughter, joy, and many more emotions. We recognize playground as a place for children to connect and enjoy the moment. Playground is an opportunity for kids to practice their social skills and an opportunity to see the world in different views. Swing is the classic playground activity; you must be on it before you leave. Swing is the activity that both kids and adults can play on. Are you even at the playground if you did not use the slide? Playground, however, is also where adults go back and relive their childhood memories occasionally. It gives me back the memories of my high school life every time I go back to this specific playground. The memories of laughter, joy, and friends. These photographs are just a glimpse of how COVID-19 affected the childhood of kids who had to grow up being quarantined. This playground seemed almost forgotten because wherever I look, there was no sign of laughter and kids. I do hope that someday, this playground will be known again.
